Broadway & The Cotswolds

Abbots Grange is a two minute stroll from the village High Street with its wonderful selection of shops, inns and restaurants. The surrounding Cotswolds countryside offers some of the most magnificent walks in the UK including the beautiful 'Cotswold Way' which runs through Broadway from Chipping Campden to Bath.

Abbots Grange Manor House Hotel is perfectly located for visiting the Cotswolds. While Broadway’s many attractions are difficult to leave behind, a few miles away you will find more of the most delightful villages and hamlets including Buckland (2.2m), Laverton (2.7m), Snowshill (2.9m), Stanton (3.5m) and Chipping Campden (4.7m). Walks or drives to these villages are stunning - why not take in a delicious pub lunch or dinner before returning to the Grange. Glorious National Trust properties abound, the most famous of which is probably Lawrence Johnstones ‘Hidcote Manor’ (7m), recognised as one of England’s most beautiful gardens.

At Snowshill you’ll find the Lavender Farm with its café and shop. Snowshill Manor & gardens (2.9m), is an extraordinary time capsule that will transport you back in time to the Edwardian era. Sudeley Castle (9m), Warwick Castle (28m) and Blenheim Palace (30m) make for perfect day’s out. Go South and you’ll find the lovely Cotswold towns of Stow on the Wold (11m), Bourton on the Water (15m), Burford (20m) and on to the famous City of Oxford (37m). North will take you to Stratford upon Avon (15m) and the theatrical delights of the Royal Shakespeare Company. The Roman city of Bath (67m) and town of Cirencester (30m) make lovely day-out excursions.

There is racing at Cheltenham (15m) and Worcester (23m), golf at Broadway and numerous surrounding courses. Some of the most glorious riding is available nearby with good stables offering half or full days hacks. West Oxfordshire’s business of the Year 2017 ‘Huffkins’ can be found in Stow-on-the-Wold, Burford, Witney, Cheltenham and Stratford-upon-Avon. Unique to the Cotswolds, these archetypal British tea rooms serve all manor of local dishes and each branch has its own on site bakery shop.

Wherever you go in the Cotswolds you’ll find a plentiful selection of very good village inn’s, restaurants and shopping. And while at Abbots Grange, if all you fancy is a leisurely wander into the village, a stroll up the garden path and through the old arched gateway will bring you out onto the village green. From here, the village of Broadway with its galleries, shops and tea rooms is at your disposal.
